Senegal: Disgraced President leaves office to find shelter in MarrakeshF

By MondAfrique:  A short video circulating on social media shows outgoing Senegalese President Macky Sall’s departure for Morocco on April 2, the day of the inauguration of his rival Bassirou Diomaye Faye. Morocco officially welcomed the former President of Senegal who did not wish to remain in his country for another day after he left office.

He lives with his family in an opulent villa he owns in Marrakesh. King Mohamed VI, invited to the inauguration of the new President, was represented by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita.

Since January 2024, Macky Sall has served as a special envoy for the Paris Pact for Peoples and the Planet, which emerged from the Paris Summit for a new Global Financial Compact.
