The North Africa Journal – 3 October 2018: The United States could impose sanctions against Algeria for purchasing Russian military equipment. In its effort to punish Moscow for its alleged interference in the 2016 elections and its “unacceptable” behavior in the Ukraine, the United States put 33 new Russian entities, with whom Algeria deals, to the CAATSA section 231 List of Specified Persons (LSP) for being a part of, or operating for or on behalf of, the defense or intelligence sectors of the Government of the Russian Federation. The US embassy in Algiers announced that the two countries opened a dialogue.
