The Algeria human rights activist and medical doctor, Kamel Eddine Fekhar speaks in this interview (in Algerian) of the major issues of government abuse. Mr. Fekhar, a Berber-rights activists has been in prison for a long time. He died this week, allegedly due to his hunger strike, but he accused the judicial authorities of the province of Ghardaia of programing his death. Fekhar is now the latest victim of a brutal regime. While Europe’s gas market continues shifting toward LNG imports, Algeria has maintained its position as one of the continent’s leading pipeline suppliers through a combination of established infrastructure, long-term contracts, and growing LNG activity.
A report published by Germany’s Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik accuses the United Arab Emirates of playing a destabilizing role in several African conflicts through support for armed groups, logistical networks, and regional interventions. The report focuses particularly on Sudan, Libya, the Horn of Africa, and Yemen, while also criticizing Western governments for avoiding direct public criticism of Abu Dhabi.
