Eleven Russians arrested in Tunisia in late 2024 are suspected of terrorism. AFP says authorities claim they possessed equipment inconsistent with tourism during their visit to Haïdra near the Algerian border.

Mali has accused Algeria of interference and supporting terrorist groups after top Algerian diplomat criticized its counter-terrorism strategy. Bamako alleges Algeria maintains ties to insurgent groups, a reference to the Toureg tribes, 

Morocco is experiencing a measles outbreak which appears to have caused the death of five people on 3,631 measles cases reported in the first three weeks of 2025. Cases have been reported in all 12 regions of Morocco.  

Morocco blocked 78,685 irregular migration attempts in 2024, dismantled 332 trafficking networks, and rescued 18,645 migrants at sea, but the true scale of migration in North and West Africa likely exceeds these figures due to undetected crossings and undocumented tragedies.
