At The North Africa Journal, we are dedicated to covering news and information on the sources of instability in the region, from Egypt and the Maghreb to the Sahel and beyond. Our job has gotten more important as governments in the region have been undermine the work of independent journalists. As such, we want non-government and unbiased views to remain front and center and we need help for that. As such, The North Africa Journal is looking for skilled individuals to work as volunteers for a period of time before being considered for paid employment.
The candidates will help with:
1- Identifying and selecting the appropriate stories
2- Format them for publishing in our online platform
3- Managing stories’ life cycle
4- Promoting stories in social media platforms
Length of Term:
We are asking volunteers to commit to a minimum of six months at a time. We want to move the organization forward and reach readers around the world who have an interest in the region, therefore such commitment will allow for NAJ to measure success accurately and efficiently.
Meetings and Time Commitment:
- NAJ will need an Online Publishing Associates that are able to commit a minimum of two hours daily for at least six months
- Check in daily with Editor in Chief for the first month, and then weekly thereafter
- Attend at least one board meeting to stay updated and knowledgeable of NAJ and its advancements
- Candidate must be accessible via WhatsApp, Skype, regular phone and email.
Expectations:
Job Types: Volunteer, Internship with opportunity to move to paying assignment after trial period.
