The clan warfare pitting several senior and military leaders and their respective networks has affected deeply the workings of intelligence agencies in Algeria. The outcome of this warfare remains unclear, but in the current situation, it is about the military command attempting to neutralize non-military units that have been reporting to the now jailed intel chief Toufik Mediene, and remain loyal to him.
