EU Report Accuses Tunisia of Migrant Trafficking to Libya

A report, presented to the European Parliament on January 29 by a group of researchers, accuses Tunisia of deporting sub-Saharan migrants and selling them to Libyan armed groups. The authors say their findings are based on firsthand testimonies, detailing a system of arrests, detentions, and forced transfers. The findings raise concerns about the EU’s migration policies, particularly its funding of Tunisian border security, and challenge Tunisia’s status as a “safe country” for migrants.
